The microbiome living in our gut is a tiny ecosystem whose health largely depends on how diverse it is. Just as biodiversity – the variety of species – strengthens natural ecosystems, diversity is equally beneficial for our gut flora. One of the best ways to support it is through our diet: by eating a wide variety of plant-rich foods, we nourish a greater diversity of beneficial bacteria.
The more colourful and varied our plate is, the better it is for our microbiome—and, in turn, for our whole body and ultimately for the planet as well. Everyone wins!
